Dave Pawsey’s latest video for Sam Roberts has sent critics leaping from their wheelchairs.

The video has been hailed on numerous blogs and cg driven sites as a tremendous achievement. Thanks to the work of VFX house, Duplex, and the intense supervision of VFX Supervisor Jonathan Legris, Sam Roberts elevates to a new level of rockstar.

The video has also been featured in many online publications such as shots, boards and stimulants.

When asked about the inspiration behind the idea of the music video…Dave Pawsey had this to say:

DP: “I always tripped out on the way the Sims characters communicated ideas and emotions by using icons. I thought it could be cool to express human emotions in a music video with these icons instead of subtitles.

The idea of aging Sam Roberts came from the lyrical point of view of the song. I wanted to add a performance element into the video, but without the clichéd notion of a performance video. I thought that by making Sam Roberts a character performing the song at different stages of life, the video would take on a more story driven approach. It felt like the song was a rant on the state of music and, in a larger way, popular culture, so I felt it would be poignant to have an old man singing parts of the song and to eliminate the potential for being preachy.”

Sam Roberts album is due to hit later this month.
